‘We Win As One, Stand as One’ panawagan ni Tolentino

MANILA, Philippines — Nanawagan ng pagkakaisa si Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino sa mga Pilipino kasabay ng mga sunud-sunod na aberya na naranasan ng ilang foreign athletes sa pagsisimula ng ilang laro sa 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Bukod sa tagline ng 2019 regional biennial meet na ‘We Win As One’ kailangan din aniya ng bansa na mag-’Stand As One’ para maging makabuluhan at makasaysayan ang sporting event na ito.

Pinaalala rin ng Philippine Cycling chief na ito lamang ang ikaapat na beses na naging host ng SEA Games ang bansa, una noong 1981, na sinundan noong 1991 at 2005 at maaring mangyari ito sa susunod na 10 taon na.

“Remember, the next time we will host this could be in 2030. So, let’s not pull each other down. This is for the country,” litanya ni Tolentino sa Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) kamakalawa.

Matatandaan na naging mainit sa mata ng madla ang naging kapalpakan ng Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) matapos makaranas ng aberya ang football delegates ng Thailand, Myanmar, Timor-Leste at Cambodia.

Sinabi rin ni Tolentino na normal aniya ang mga konting aberya na nakita ng ilan sa nagdaang mga araw kahit maging siya ay naranasan ito kaya’t isa ito aniyang maganda para magkaisa ang bawat Pilipino.

“It’s normal. I’ve experienced that myself. We all make mistakes that’s why we should work together. Those in the social media, the netizens, let’s move on first with our hosting,” sabi nito.
