UAAP suportado Gilas squads

MANILA, Philippines — Naka-focus na ang Gilas Pilipinas squads sa nalalapit nilang pakikibaka sa 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games sa Japan at sa FIBA 3x3 Under-23 World Cup sa Wuhan, China ngayong Setyembre.

May mga napiling atleta sa Gilas teams na nagmula sa University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) kaya naman bilang suporta ay nag-adjust ang nabanggit na organisasyon sa iskedyul ng kanilang laro.

“The UAAP will always support all our national teams, and we are willing to adjust our schedules whenever necessary to give our student-athletes the opportunity to serve the Philippines,” sabi ni UAAP Season 89 president Mark Molina ng Far Eastern University.

Magkakaroon lamang ng limang game schedules ang UAAP Season 89 ngayong Setyembre, magbubukas sa 12 (Sabado) sa Araneta Coliseum at sa 13 (Linggo) ang unang araw ng laro kung saan maghaharap ang host school Far Eastern University at A­damson University sa alas-12 ng tanghali.

Sunod ang bakbakan ng defending champion De La Salle University at National University sa alas-2:30 ng hapon at huli ang University of the Philippines kontra University of Santo Tomas sa alas-6 ng gabi.

“We have always believed that the UAAP’s mission goes beyond the competition. We are here to develop student-athletes who can represent our schools, but we are equally proud when they get the opportunity to represent the country,” ani Molina.

Ibabandera nina DLSU players Luis Pablo at Doy Dungo kasama ang pambato ng UST, Koji Buenaflor, ang bandila ng Pilipinas sa men’s 3x3 sa Asian Games sa Set­yembre 21 hanggang 25 habang si Kacey Dela Rosa at ibang Gilas teammates na halos galing sa UAAP ay maglalaro sa women’s 5-on-5 basketball team.

Kasama ng Gilas 3×3 U23 men sa Pool A ng Asian Games ang Mongolia, Kazakhstan at Sri Lanka.
