Solar kariton provides livelihood and power

MANILA, Philippines - SOL (Araw) Power Now Inc. has developed a new and novel product with digital technology for a noble purpose – to give solar light to children to read, write and do their homework with the new digital Kariton.

The company has developed a cart with a solar panel on the roof that charges a deep-cycle battery to power a long-lasting LED (light emitting diode) bulb.

While the enterprising Kariton owner is vending food, drinks, and other products in his locality, his battery is being charged with a roof solar panel all day without any additional effort from him for safe “clean light” for his family’s night use.

The fully charged battery provides power for six hours for a small TV monitor and a digital DVD player that will help educate and entertain folks in poor villages who otherwise may have nothing else to do.

This new and simple system will give poor families in remote villages, islets, and non-grid areas clean light instead of the harmful, polluting and costly kerosene or fire-hazardous candles.

The digital Kariton could be built for under P25,000 and is a new livelihood project that can literally turn darkness to light.
