Big thanks

Without their support and cooperation, we would not have been able to do our job in 2017.

Before the first month of 2018 ends, we take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to the men, women and establishments that contributed much to our efforts to produce this column every week. Without their support and cooperation, we would not have been able to do our job in 2017.

At Makati Supermarket in Alabang, Jo and Belinda always went out of their way to find whatever item we wanted, whether these were on the racks or in the bodega. The uniformed man by the store entrance/exit never failed to get us a chair while we were waiting for our kasambahay at the cashier. The young ladies at Robinson’s in Solenad, Nuvali in Sta. Rosa always have smiles on their faces. At Shopwise in Alabang, Jaime, an attendant by the cashier, was always ready to assist us, walking us through the exit up to our car. The nameless vendors in wet markets who toil everyday. The home-based food innovators who augment their family income. The waitstaff at restaurants showing  effective service training – the notables being at Conti’s in West Gate Filinvest, Pamigiano in Molito, various Japanese restaurants such as Miyasaki, Tim Ho Wan in Uptown, Mama Lou’s in Evia Lifestyle Center, Barrio Fiesta in Sta. Rosa.

And last but not the least, our editor Doreen and her girls, Rosal and Alpha, for reading copy to see that all facts and spellings are correct. Big thank you to you all! If we missed some, please forgive.

It has happened – the rise in cost of everything! Inspite of the peso gaining strength, Magnolia dressed chicken is now P142 a kilo, native garlic goes for P508 a kilo, the price of rice has also been elevated. What will follow? As we always say, abangan! as we do more research.

Meantime, continue having Sunday gatherings with your families. Life is still good!
