Frozen again

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

A photography exhibit at The Gallery of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel showcased the most recent works of famed Philippine-based photographer Tom Epperson.

The exhibit boasted a unique perspective into “capturing” still life in ice and elevating the process into a meticulous art unique to the photographer. The works were called a unique showcase of modern prints from a Southeast Asian perspective and won accolades in his New York exhibit entitled 12 Below.

Tom Epperson chose this occasion to come back to the Philippines and show a collection of prints that were all representative of this newly-discovered theme after a long period of not exhibiting locally. It was inspired by his concern for the environment and proved to be the perfect platform for his perfect interpretation of the juxtaposition of water with light.

Shot on location while standing on the thin ice that covered the depths of Mongolia’s frozen lakes, each print from the collection showed a point of view that couldn’t be duplicated or simulated. Tom said he may never have the chance to do this ever again.

The event established Tom Epperson as the innovative photographer/artist that he has evolved throughout many years of commercial works and critical success.

Many grabbed the chance to own their exclusive Frozen II pieces but the first five to purchase prints during the event were awarded exclusive Chloe eyewear. Chloe, together with HP, supported Tom in this endeavor.

Nivea invades Boracay

A host of beach lovers got to enjoy the rejuvenating side of Boracay as the island paradise played host to the annual Nivea Sun Wellness Center at the Sun Village Central Beachfront resort.

Vacationers who visited the Nivea Wellness Center enjoyed the relaxing spa treatments carried out by professionally trained massage therapists. The treatments were conducted in utmost privacy complete with individual massage beds that created an oasis in the middle of the island. Using Nivea Smooth Body Oil, guests were able to enjoy not just smooth and supple skin but also a treatment that thoroughly revitalized their senses.

Nivea models roamed around the island paradise as they enticed vacationers to try the new Nivea Sun Invisible Protection Spray. They invited guests to enjoy a fun exercise regimen via free zip dancing classes conducted by a professional zip instructor. Zip dancing is proven to be effective in toning muscles, improving hand-eye coordination and increasing overall strength.

Despite the scorching heat of the sun, beach goers were ensured they were protected against the sun with Nivea Sun Invisible Protection Spray, which feels incredibly light and cool on the skin and its SPF 30 formulation is non-greasy and water resistant, helping everyone achieve 100 percent attractive skin during summer.

Dwell on it

Young couples worldwide are now so selective that their personal styles take center stage in their home. Practicality no longer takes precedence and even linens, utility bags, utility boxes and even things for the baby that are normally purchased for their usefulness now show marked influences of their discriminating taste and demand for quality as well as a preferred distinct aesthetic.

DwellStudio understands and somehow lives by the principle of style thus has continued to produce these useful yet pretty home items.

Adam Gobble of DwellStudio New York visited to introduce these new items that Rustan’s Department Store will carry exclusively from the trendy brand. Together with Gretchen Uy and Oliver Dexter Sy of DwellStudio Manila, they welcomed guests at The Peninsula’s Presidential Suite. Tea time proved to be fun with everyone buzzing about the exciting new products.

DwellStudio 2010 stocks are carried at the Home and Baby sections of Rustan’s Department Store, Makati.
