WATCH: Can Miriam Defensor Santiago still recover and gain lead?

MANILA, Philippines — An analyst says Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago is a relatively popular and a well known public figure.

Santiago has served as a trial court judge, an Immigration commissioner, secretary of the Agrarian Reform department and as a senator. Currently, she is in her final term after serving two consecutive terms in the Senate.

The senator has also run for the presidency and lost twice before.

In her third try, political analyst Dindo Manhit raises the question of whether Santiago is ready for the presidency given the health issues hounding her.

Last July, the senator announced that she had beaten stage four lung cancer. Despite this, she skipped the second presidential debate to go to a clinical trial of a new anti-cancer pill.

Watch as Manhit explains whether Santiago can still recover and turn around her low poll ratings.
