Children's book on people power revolution launched

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Palanca finalist Russell Molina and 2013 Peter Pan Prize awardee Sergio Bumatay III launched on Monday a children's book titled EDSA, meant to cultivate among kids a sense of pride about an important moment in Philippine history.

"A picture book is a shared experience. I want EDSA to be likewise. I want teachers and parents to put in stories. EDSA is not just one story but a series of different stories," Molina said.

The book was launched at the Cultural Center of the Philippines by the EDSA People Power Commission (EPPC).

The book recounts the final days of the bloodless 1986 People Power Revolution. Published by Adarna House, EPPC dedicates the book to Filipinos who stood against tanks and bullets at EDSA and hopes this will be a mine for inspiration and a tool for remembrance and learning for all families, it said.

"Napakatamis ng kalayaan lalo kung natikman natin kung gaano kapait ang kawalan nito noon. Lubos ang pasasalamat natin kay Russel at Serge dahil sa pamamagitan ng kanilang kuwento, nabubuhay ang diwa ng EDSA," Presidential Communication Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma said in his message on behalf of the President.
