FFCCCII donates 6 school buildings in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines— Six school buildings were donated by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) in six towns of Zamboanga del Norte as part of its charitable work of providing school buildings to poor communities.

Enrique Chua, chairman of the welfare committee and board member of FFCCCII, said in his address that education is the only way to prosperity that the group can fully support.

The six school buildings have two classrooms each and were turned over last week to Rizal Elementary School, Rizal; Piñan Elementary Central School, Piñan; Mabuhay Elementary School, Liloy; Labason Elementary School, Labason; San Roque Elementary School, Poblacion, Kalawit; and Galingon National High School-Annex, all in Zamboanga del Norte.

“No education, no future, no work,” Chua said before 300 students of Galingon National High School-Annex, Barangay Galingon, Tampilisan town.

For the Chinese-Filipino businessmen, he said, donating school buildings is the biggest charitable work of their organization.

FFCCCII’s “Operation Barrios Schools” has donated more than 5,000 two-classroom school buildings since the establishment of the organization in 1969.

The donors were Mr. and Mrs. Gan Tiak Kheng; Mr. and Mrs. Lucio Tan; Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Chan; Mr. and Mrs. Louie Lee, and Mr. and Mrs. Tan Ching.
