PDRF aids DepEd feeding programs in Yolanda areas

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation (PDRF) has agreed to supply 1,000 sacks of rice that will feed some 27,000 students for one month to the Department of Education to help with its feeding program for school children in Yolanda-hit communities in the Visayas.

As the country’s first permanent private sector vehicle for disaster management, the PDRF has established education as one of its priority program areas, along with shelter, livelihood, environment, water, infrastructure, sanitation and health (WISH). Apart from helping out DepEd in their feeding program, the PDRF has also committed to work closely with the Department of Education in providing temporary classrooms to fill their learning requirements until the end of the current school year.
