MANILA, Philippines - The Mapua Institute of Technology, home of the Philippines’ finest Engineers, proved that throughout the years, produced the best and well known professionals not just here in the country but in the whole world as well. For 87 years, they made thousands of Engineers who made their own mark in the real world.
From PACUCOA Accreditation of the different Engineering programs up to the accreditation of 10 programs of Mapua by the international Accreditation body called Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology or ABET, Mapua showed that the vision of Don Tomas Mapua is still alive amidst the innovations in Technology.
The School of Civil, Environmental and Geological Engineering serves as one of the foundations of Mapua, and also home of the best and world renowned Civil, Sanitary, Geological Engineers and geologists, will celebrate the achievements they received throughout the years with CEGE Week 2012. With its theme: “Engineering and Beyond 2012”, the SCEGE will showcase that Engineering is not just merely math and Physics, but there is something more fun in Engineering. The CEGE Week 2012 is a weeklong celebration jam packed with exciting events that will challenge the intelligence, talent, and beauty of the future engineers of the Philippines. The CEGE Week 2012 will be held from November 12-17, 2012 at the Mapua Institute of Technology Intramuros Campus. The different events are:
CEGE CUP 2012
Five teams, Four Games, who will reign victorious? Witness the different organizations battle to win the trophy. Competitive and Friendship will be formed. The SCEGE Student Council invites the students to join the Yearly CEGE CUP 2012 which will be held on Oct 14-Nov 12, 2012 at the Mapua Intramuros Gymnasium.
Mr. and Ms. CEGE Pre-Pageant 2012
The SCEGE Student Council invites you to witness the rise of the Gods and Goddesses in their Olympic attire and showing off their Theatrical talents. A preview of what's in store for the upcoming CEGE Night 2012! The Mr. and Ms. CEGE Pre-Pageant 2012 will be held at the Mapua Intramuros Gymnasium on November 12, 2012.
CONCRETE CYLINDER COMPETITION
The American Concrete Institute-Mapua Student Chapter will hold a Concrete Cylinder Competition. The Concrete cylinder competition was divided into two parts: making and testing. The concrete cylinder making was held at soil mechanics and materials testing and laboratory last November 6, 2012 between 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, While the testing will be held at UTM testing center, MIT on November 13, 2012 between 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The aim of the said event is mainly to give the significance of proportioning the materials for making concrete in relation to its strength, and also to enhance the knowledge on civil engineering as well as the competitiveness of the participants. A total of 14 teams joined the competition. Each team was composed of three members.
Bridge Building Competition
The ICPMA-MAPUA STUDENT CHAPTER is aiming to reveal the hidden talents of Mapúa students in being resourceful and imaginative to design the strongest possible bridge out of popsicle sticks.
Bridge Building Competition aims to enhance the creativity and strategic planning of students by means of producing the strongest possible bridge without compromising the aesthetic element of bridge designing. Only materials provided by the organizers are to be used in the competition.
The Bridge Building competition will be held on November 13, 2012 , from 1:30-4:30 pm at the Mapua South Circle.
1ST ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING QUIZ SHOW
The Philippine Society of Sanitary Engineers – Mapúa Student Chapter (PSSE-MITSC) will be conducting its first major event entitled “Environmental Engineering Quiz Show” on November 13, 2012 at the Plenary Hall of Mapúa Institute of Technology. The quiz show will be an annual event during the SCEGE Week. It aims to provide awareness and appreciation in the field of Environmental Engineering as well as to develop and enhance camaraderie among other Mapúan students.
2nd ENGINEERING MECHANICS QUIZ BEE
As part of the celebration of the Civil, Environmental, and Geological Engineering week, the American Concrete Institute – Mapua Institute of Technology Chapter will be conducting the 2nd Engineering Mechanics Quiz Bee on November 14, 2012. Fifty teams composing of two participants in each team are expected to battle with other students’ minds. The competition is open for all programs that have statics, dynamics, and strength of materials in their curriculum. The objective of the event is to enhance problem comprehension and solving in a limited time. It also aims to showcase and build up the competitiveness and confidence of Mapuans.
Building Information Modeling Symposium
ICMPA - Mapúa Student Chapter shall provide activities and programs that will serve the students in every level that they can be accommodated. This activity shall introduce BIM to students under the School of CEGE, and show possible job opportunities in the future. We also aim for the interaction of students, especially CEM students.
A symposium (seminar) on Building Information Modeling (BIM) that will enable the students to know its concepts, how it works and show possible job opportunities for students under the School of CEGE, and to provide the students’ knowledge on how BIM can be interrelated to construction management. The symposium will be held on November 15, 2012 at the Mapua Seminar Room 1:00-4:15 pm
Don Tomas Mapua Civil Engineering Quiz Show VI: Venatus de Indoles
Bulacan State University, University of the East and Technological University of the Philippines; representative students from these schools brought pride and victory in their encounter against different schools all over the country. Their scholarly dexterity proved superior in the past competitions, but the question is, who will reign at the 6th Don Tomas Mapua Civil Engineering Quiz Show? Set on the 16th of November, with the MIT gymnasium as their proving grounds, 50 competing schools all over the country will battle it out to see who will emerge victorious in this prestigious event.
The quiz show is made to have a similar coverage that of the engineering board examinations. This would cover the basics, from Mathematics and Physics, to the more specific fields of Transportation Engineering, Water Resource and Hydraulics, Construction Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Engineering. The questions are in correlation to the students’ preparation for their licensure examinations.
Mapua Institute of technology hosts this quiz show to develop competence, and togetherness amongst the participating schools; moreover, this aims to determine who are amongst the brightest and most competitive future civil engineers of the present generation.
CEGE NIGHT 2012: An Immortal Night: Clash of the Gods and Goddesses
The Grandest event in the history of CEGE is coming this 17th of November, brought to you by the CEGE Thinkers, An Immortal Night: The Clash of the Gods and Godesses... Who will be the last Olympian Standing?
The CEGE NIGHT 2012 will be the final and the grandest event of the CEGE Week. SCEGE Students and professors will get to know each other and relax for a while after a week full of different activities. Also, the winners of the Mr. and Ms. CEGE 2012 will be determined. The CEGE night 2012 will be held at One Esplanade, SM Central Business Park, Seaside cor. Bay Blvd, Pasay City on November 17, 2012 from 6pm-12 mn.
