MANILA, Philippines - At a time when modernization and global competitiveness seem to be the trend, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) chose to celebrate the Christmas of 2010 with one of Cavite’s renowned traditions: the Panambitan. Formerly known as Maytinis, the Panambitan 2010 brought together floats of different scenes from the Bible that the different colleges and sectors of the university conceptualized. The float procession paraded through the campus and nearby areas last Dec. 6 to show neighboring communities the Lasallian spirit of the season.
The procession made stopovers in various designated stations in the campus to highlight musical dramatizations of significant events leading to the birth of Christ. Leading the procession of Panambitan is the float of Adam and Eve together with the animals and serpent in the Garden of Eden sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts. Following them are Noah’s Ark sponsored by the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology; Moses by the College of Business Administration; Samson and Delilah by the College of Criminal Justice Education; Joseph’s Dream by the College of International Hospitality Management; The Annunciation by the Parents’ Organization of La Salle Cavite And De La Salle Alumni Association DLSU-D Chapter; The Visitation by the College of Education; The Birth of Jesus by the College of Science; and the Inang Pilipinas by Kabalikat ng DLSU-D.
