President Sergio Osmeña’s appointees in the Provinces of Misamis Occidental and Oriental - Part 1

Don Sergio Suico Osmeña Sr. became the first and only Cebuano to become president on August 1, 1944, after taking his oath in the United States upon the death of President Quezon. He came to the Philippines on October 20, 1944 together with Gen. MacArthur in the famous Leyte landings. Osmeña made the Leyte Provincial Capitol as his office. The following were his appointees in the provinces of Misamis Occidental and Oriental (Misamis was divided into the two provinces in 1929):

Misamis Oriental

Pedro S. Baculio, designated acting provincial governor of Misamis Oriental, August 1, 1945.

Ubaldo D. Laya, appointed, ad interim, provincial treasurer of Misamis Oriental, July 14, 1945.

Misamis Occidental

Angel Medina, appointed acting provincial governor of Misamis Occidental, July 23, 1945.

Filemon D. Pacana, appointed, ad interim, provincial treasurer of Misamis Occidental, July 14, 1945.

Fortunato Borromero Veloso, appointed acting judge, Bohol and Occidental Misamis, June 7, 1945.

Misamis Occidental

Porfirio G. Villarin, appointed acting provincial governor of Misamis Occidental, October 5, 1945.

Federio Apao, Angel Medina, appointed acting members of the Provincial Board of Misamis  Occidental, October 5, 1945.

Luciano Sumingit and Celso Velez, appointed acting councilors of Baliangao,Misamis Occidental, October 18, 1945.

Roman Manabag, appointed acting councilor of Misamis, Misamis Occidental, October 18, 1945.

Francisco Morante, Domingo Cellona, Regino Nique, Jovito Mirafuentes, Teodoro Esguerra, and Magdaleno de la Costa, appointed acting councilors of Tangub, Misamis Occidental, October 13, 1945.

Cosme Gabinel, Basilio Villas, Doroteo Torres, Esmael Palma, Plaridel Medina, Juan Omandam, Lucero Lacia, and Jose Gairanod, appointed acting councilors of Plaridel, Misamis Occidental, October 18, 1945. (To be continued)
