A desperate move by the LP-Otso Deretso

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Valeriano Avila - The Freeman

I watched the ANC presentation of a media briefing by presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo, who revealed what he described as a “deliberate conspiracy” of the opposition Liberal Party (LP) and the Magdalo group to discredit the family of Pres. Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte in that “Ang Totoong Narcolist” video in the hope that the opposition party candidates would have a better chance in winning the elections next week. But in the end, this whole gambit backfired on the LP a.k.a Otso Deretso because the personalities were arrested. Panelo also questioned the timing of Peter Joemel Advincula, who surfaced and claimed he was Bikoy. Panelo said it was a diversionary tactic of the opposition to mislead the public. Communications Secretary Martin Andanar and Panelo mentioned the opposition LP and the Magdalo group of Rep. Gary Alejano as behind the ouster plot, along with former senator Manuel Roxas and former presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda. Incidentally, in order to save face, Edwin Lacierda appeared on CNN-Philippines to deny their role in this obvious stupid plot to regain the LP’s credibility.

But in the end, Filipinos now know how desperate the LP has become in trying to get back into political power. Malacañang clearly identified former Palace spokesman Lacierda, Communist Party of the Philippines founder Jose Maria Sison, and veteran journalists Ellen Tordesillas, Inday Espina Varona, Luz Rimban, Howie Severino, Sheila Coronel, Malou Mangahas, Cocoy Dayao, Rodel Jayme, Bong Banal, and Arman Pontejos as key players in the oust Duterte plot. At this point, we don’t know what the Department of Justice intends to do with these personalities and I would like to believe that a court case is in the offing!

Not many people realize that this not-so-secret organization was responsible for the negative reports that made the Filipino people believe that former president Ferdinand Marcos was not just a dictator, but also a corrupt one. But now, many people are starting to believe that there are just too many credible organizations that the yellows have used not just against Marcos, but the enemies of the Aquino Family.

A case in point was a document that my good friend, Manila Times columnist Bobi Tiglao, revealed in his Facebook page about the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism. Bobi Tiglao put out a long list of supposed corrupt activities during the term of former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and another long list of the issues hounding Pres. Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte. Then he put a PCIJ list that they reported against former president Benigno “PNoy” Aquino III, which was a simple black sheet of paper. We now know all the negatives that happened during the six-year term of Aquino from the Hong Kong hostage crisis, to the Mamasapano massacre, and now the Dengvaxia vaccine, and PCIJ did not find anything odd with these?

Earlier there was a demand for a full Senate investigation on these allegations. However, we learned that the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs cancelled its scheduled inquiry into the claims of ex-convict Peter Joemel Advincula, the self-confessed “Bikoy,” in the online videos that linked relatives of President Duterte to the illegal drug trade. Apparently, Senate President Vicente Sotto III the other day said that Advincula attempted to peddle a similar story a few years ago but implicating former officials of the Aquino administration.

So clearly this Peter Advincula is a “gun-for-hire” type in discrediting personalities for a fee. The revelation by Sen. Sotto only strengthens our belief that this same person tried to swindle then Pres. PNoy, and now they are using him to swindle the family of Pres. Duterte.

This fellow, Advincula, surfaced last Monday and claimed that he is the hooded narrator “Bikoy” in the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos that linked several relatives of Duterte as well as his allies to the illegal drug trade.

“Bikoy” had linked Duterte’s relatives, including his son, former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte, son-in-law Manases Carpio, and former special assistant Christopher Go to the narcotics trade. However Sen. Panfilo Lacson said the panel will hold a hearing only if Advincula personally presents his sworn statement and evidence to support his accusations. This has not happened yet. But clearly the desperation of the LP and the Yellowtards has gone too far. Someone has to be jailed for this stupidity!
