PRO-7: Pray tell us the whole damned truth!

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit Avila - The Freeman

Last Tuesday during the 888 News Forum, we had three top Philippine National Police (PNP) officials who assured the media that, in the wake of killings that seem to be targeting agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Central Visayas, the Cebuanos continue to trust the police authorities. PDEA-7 spokesperson Leia Albiar denied that there is animosity between the two law enforcement agencies.

Newly-installed PDEA-7 Regional Director Wardley Getalla said PDEA-7 and PNP are closely investigating the death of PDEA agent Von Rian Tecson and Senior Police Officer 1 Roderick Balili. These are indeed difficult times for us civilians especially when Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña is among those who do not believe the police narrative because it is just too inconsistent. I mean a Glock pistol does not misfire. The only time it fires is when your trigger finger is on the trigger mechanism.

Mayor Osmeña tells PRO-7 Director Debold Sinas: “General, don’t think the Cebuanos are stupid. We’re not stupid. You’re making it clear that you are the enemy of Cebu.”  It is a statement that I have never heard from high elective officials in Cebu, including Mayor Osmeña, and I totally agree with the mayor on his dare to PRO-7 to produce Balili’s guns and the slugs recovered from his body if it matches the firearm? This includes showing the car used in that incident.

What the PRO-7 needs to do is tell us Cebuanos the whole damn truth about what happened in Perrelos, Carcar … not what happened in Pinamungahan because I find it totally ridiculous to bring Balili’s body to Naga when there are district hospitals in Toledo City or nearby. So now PRO-7 must tell us only one story: The truth and nothing but the whole damn truth!

It was headline news in two national dailies that three national political parties and six local groupings forged an alliance with the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) regional party of President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, on Tuesday morning. The national parties include the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) and National Unity Party (NUP), and local groups Serbisyo sa Bayan Party (SBP) of Quezon City, Alyansa Bol-anon Alang sa Kausaban (ABAKA) of Bohol and Zamboanga del Norte’s Aggrupation of Party for Progress (APP).

Apparently, the news reports show that the Nacionalista Party (NP) was not among the major parties that joined the alliance with HNP, however its party head Sen. Cynthia Villar was present and among those who signed the agreement at the Blue Leaf Filipinas Aseana in Parañaque City. I also found it strange that no political party from Cebu joined this aggrupation or perhaps they weren’t invited to join at all.

While this newly formed political alliance is proof that all is not well with the ruling PDP-Laban Party, the strength of a political party however lies upon winning the elections. Next year we are going to have mid-term polls, so the question is: Will this new political aggrupation win the polls for the candidates it would support?

Meanwhile, the issue swirling around the country has not been given the proper importance that is due. I’m referring to the national expose of former Biliran congressman Glenn Chong who told the Senate that Smartmatic in collusion with the Commission on Elections literally cheated in the 2016 presidential elections. I have talked in length with Atty. Glenn Chong and the evidence he presented was damning for the Comelec and Smartmatic.

I have been writing, in this corner and in my column in the Philippine Star, about electoral fraud from the 2010 presidential elections, to the 2013 mid-term elections and the 2016 elections, but people do not seem interested in exposing the shenanigans of the Comelec in collusion with Smartmatic!

I will not deal anymore in the two previous elections, but focus instead on the 2016 electoral fraud. I have always asked this question in my previous columns and I have never gotten any answers — not a single one.

I’m questioning why Sen. Franklin Drilon bagged 18.6 million votes and Sen. Joel Villanueva bagged 18.4 million votes, higher by three million votes than the most popular candidate Pres. Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte? The second issue is: Where is former Comelec chief Andres Bautista, who we discovered had 33 bank books in the Luzon Development Bank as exposed by his own wife, Tish? This is proof of election fraud in the 2016 polls!
