Where to go

VERBAL VARIETY - Annie Fe Perez - The Freeman

March is such an exciting month for students. As the school year closes, the ceremonies ending that roller-coaster ride will be filled with memories, promises, and hopes as they move on to the next step. As for me, I took every end of the school year as a challenge to be better in the next year to come. But the question that haunts most students, especially fresh graduates is where to go now that everything is over and done.

Life will be full of pressure. It will feel like a race with your classmates for the company that you would land in right after graduation. This, I think, is a common misconception. There is no need to rush -take time, enjoy and savor the moments that you have with your family and friends while you still can. It will be a different world when you are working and time will slip away from you before you know it.

Also make sure that you are in the zone where you feel most comfortable and where your passion is being maximized. It isn't a fulfilling job if you don't enjoy it. Don't worry about money. Although it is most practical to also consider the salary, it is also not modest to go after work because of how they pay you. Remember, we all start small somewhere before we can really demand for good pay.

Millennials are labeled to be an entitled generation. We can prove them wrong if we show them the ethics we have. It is also not ideal to be picky. Make it your mindset to consider all company phone calls as opportunities. Missed opportunities may be part of the equation of regret. We wouldn't want that at an early age. It is going to be a new world, so prepare your heart and mind well.

Others may opt to go back home and serve their hometown -I don't see anything wrong with that. Our places need us the most and it may be the most heartwarming task we can do. Helping in the development of our own provinces may be far from ideal and, albeit tiring, nothing can compare to the contribution that we will be doing for the next generation. It's time for millennials to rise up in this era.

In the next few days we will be taking a break to pause to remember the life of Jesus. It may also be a good time to reflect on the question -where to go? The path may be uncertain and different from your own plans but when you trust in God's directions for you, it may be the perfect thing that will happen to you. So chill, take it easy.

The memories in school will be irreplaceable and they will also serve as life lessons. Not all will be remembered but somehow the difficult tests that you used to hurdle in school will be remind you that you are ready for anything. Congratulations, graduates!
