Keep counting

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   - The Freeman

I heard the owner of a new restaurant say on TV: "We need a good number of male waitresses but few had applied." Male waitresses are not easy to find.

Rev. Fr. Jesper John Petralba tried to pep up some sleepy Misa de Gallo attenders in the CCTN chapel with this story about a kindergarten kid who said: "People cut their sleep to go to church for the Misa de Gallo and there they resume their sleep."

That's OK sleeping inside the church while the Misa de Gallo is being said. "What's not OK is when someone wakes up early for the Misa de Gallo but ends up sleeping in another place for three hours.

Every time there is a traffic accident in which many are killed and/or injured, the blame is always on the vehicles mechanical defects. Like faulty brakes, stuck-up steering wheels, etc. Never the faulty driver. Adto kanunay ipasangil sa brake or preno kay si preno di man kamao moreklamo.

They're counting the dead from traffic accidents. Buses colliding against each, other jumping off the skyway, running into concrete walls, etc. have been happening in rapid succession in recent days and many are losing their lives "wholesale" too.

The Christmas musical show of the Seventh Day Adventist on Hope Channel last Thursday night was deserving of two thumbs-up. It was one of the best Christmas presentations I have seen on tv this Yule season. It wasn't laced with anything religious.

My kumpare, a Catholic lay minister, agreed with my critique but begged: "Please don't mention my name." He feared he'd get the thumbs-down from fellow ministers.

OVERHEARD: Some college professors were heard talking about the move to revive the cha-cha (Charter Change) in Congress. One of them said: "Basin makalusot na ang cha-cha sa Lower House kay suod man si PNoy ug si SB (Sonny Belmonte, the speaker)." Said another: "No-no gyud si PNoy sa cha-cha kay legacy gud ni Tita Cory kining atong Charter karon." said still another: "Kun gusto mo'g bag-ong Charter ayaw na ninyo i-extend ang termino ni PNoy."
