Imitation ivory figurines

THE EAR - The Philippine Star

IVORY. There’s so much fuss over Msgr. Cris Garcia’s reported collection of ivory religious icons. “Keeping ivory figurines has now become illegal?” This question was asked by a businessman who had a small figurine of Buddha, which he thought was ivory but turned out to be “hard plastic.”

IMITATION. The said businessman told an Ear informer that there are many figurines made of imitation ivory sold in some souvenir shops in Mongkok, Hong Kong. “Sure ko nga naay mga Cebuanos nga nakapalit sa HK og mga figurines nga hinimo sa imitasyon nga ivory,” the businessman said.
