Lapulapu, the unknown

UNKNOWN PINOY HERO. A Filipino academician who had lived in Spain for three years as a college professor told an Ear informer that Lapulapu is unknown to the citizens of that country. One of his students asked him: “Was he the one who led the revolt against Spain?” The professor said he answered “no” and did not elaborate.

NOT SURPRISING. The professor said he was not surprised why the Spaniards, or many of them anyway, do not know Lapulapu. “Bisan sa Amerika sab wa koy estudyante nga nakaila ni Lapulapu,” said this professor who had a teaching stint as an exchange scholar in Boston.
