DARK AND EMPTY. A mediaman went about the city last Good Friday and saw empty streets, with malls and shops closed for the Lenten holiday. He went around an upscale mall that is usually bustling with activity and heavy traffic at 6pm. That day, everything was quiet, the stillness broken only by occasional movement of mall security guards. He later told The Ear, “Ngitngit ug walay mga tawo. Eerie kaayo ang feeling. Manglimbawot imong balhibo. Mora’g nahimong ghost town ang siyudad.”
NON-CEBUANOS. With so many people going out of the city during the Lenten holidays, the mediaman wondered if most of the people living in Cebu City are not really native Cebuanos. He said, “Kung imong iphon ning naa nagpuyo sa Cebu City, pila ra kaha nila ang lumad nga Cebuano? Kung ingon ani kamingaw ang Cebu basta Semana Santa, ubay-ubay gyud siguro dili mga Cebuanos.”
