MONOTONOUS. There are some radio stations that repeatedly play certain songs in Tagalog and English within a span of only a few hours, especially at night and early dawn. “Can’t they give some Visayan songs some space to break monotony?” asked an observer, a nurse. “Kasum-ol anang Tinagalog nga kanta nga ilang sigihag balik-balik.”
WHAT’S WRONG. The nurse-observer asked: “What’s wrong with Visayan songs? Kanang pormal ba dili nang gitawag nilang novelty songs diin binuang ang lyrics.” She said there are many good Visayan compositions that can hold their own against the Tagalog songs.
