Odd and alarming: world’s youngest alcoholic only 2 years old

Alixandra Caole Vila - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Definitely not your average toddler. Cheng Cheng, a 2-year old boy from eastern China’s Anhui province is creating buzz all over the world, as he is notoriously dubbed as the youngest alcoholic for having an unsual preference of and wine over a bottle of milk.

Also known as ‘little winebibber,’ Cheng Cheng first tasted wine when he was only 10-months-old.  To stop him from crying, his father used to put wine-dipped chopsticks into his mouth. His fancy toward alcohol drinking increased as he grew older.

At first, his parents thought of his behavior as funny and cute since he does not experience any of the effects of alcohol consumption, which is very odd and extremely unlikely for someone his age. Now, his parents are bothered because Cheng Cheng can now guzzle a pint of beer faster than them. Cheng Cheng simply gulped the bottle without batting an eyelid, and then asked for some more.

It can be said that perhaps the boy seems to have developed a high tolerance because of the consumption at an early age.

The family has been severely criticized after the news has come out.  With all the media attention that the family is getting, they are finally taking the matter seriously. Social services are arguing whether to place the boy in protective care over fears for his vital organs. According to Pediatricians, organs of a child his age are not yet well-developed; even a little dose of alcohol can bring a great impact on his body.

Here is a clip from YouTube showing photos of Cheng Cheng drinking alcohol.
