PhlPost revives ‘Love Express’

MANILA, Philippines - Love is in the mail as the Philippine Postal Corp. (PhlPost) delivers letters, cards, flowers, chocolates and toys in time for Valentine’s Day.

Postmaster General Josefina dela Cruz said they are reviving their “Love Express via PhlPost,” a special delivery service, from tomorrow until Feb. 14.

“To receive letters is more traditional and romantic. It would be better if it is accompanied by roses and chocolates,” she said.

She said stalls would be put up on the ground floor of the Main Central Post Office at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila, where the public could buy cards, cakes, flowers and chocolates and have them delivered by the mailman to a loved one or special someone.

“We have invited companies selling cakes, roses for same day delivery. We would demonstrate that for Valentine’s Day we could deliver their gifts and letters on the same day. The earlier they send their letters and flowers, the better,” she added.

Dela Cruz said a team of letter carriers, the Express Elite Force, would deliver the items via Domestic Express Mail Service (DEMS) with a same day delivery commitment within Metro Manila and other delivery committed areas.

The other delivery committed areas are the province of Bulacan, with its hub in Malolos City, covering the towns of Guiguinto, Balagtas, Plaridel and Calumpit and another hub in Sta. Maria with Marilao, Bocaue and Meycauayan coverage; Cavite, with Imus as a hub servicing Bacoor and Dasmariñas; and Antipolo City hub in Rizal that will include the towns of Cainta and Taytay.

The current rate for DEMS is P60 for the first 20 grams within the National Capital Region and P70 for delivery in areas outside Metro Manila. A cut-off time of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. would also be observed for same day delivery for areas in the NCR.
