MANILA, Philippines — The crime volume in the country decreased by nearly 30 percent in the past three months, the Philippine National Police reported yesterday.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. attributed the drop to the strategic deployment of police personnel in places of convergence as well as intensified operations against crime.
“Police should be seen and felt on the streets,” Nartatez said at a news briefing at Camp Crame.
PNP records showed there were 7,233 focus crimes from July to September 2026. The figure is lower by 29.75 percent than the 10,296 crimes posted during the same period in 2025.
For the month of September, crimes decreased by 36.05 percent, from 3,226 to 2,063.
Nartatez ordered police units to continue their crime-fighting initiatives on the ground.
