Wanted American nabbed in Angeles

MANILA, Philippines — An American national wanted in the United States for sexual abuse of minors has been arrested in Angeles, Pampanga, according to the Bureau of Immigration.

The BI-Fugitive Search Unit said the suspect, identified as Robert Carlos Ramirez, 50, was collared at Camp Tomas Pepito on Sept. 10.

The arrest was based on a request received by the BI from the US embassy.

Ramirez has a pending arrest warrant issued by a court in Los Angeles, California on charges of sexual abuse.

The suspect is currently detained at the Angeles City Jail in Barangay Sto. Domingo.

The embassy informed the BI that Ramirez’s US passport had been revoked.

Ramirez arrived in the Philippines in July 2023 as a visitor.

The suspect has since overstayed.
