BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A police officer was shot dead during an anti-narcotics operation in this city on Thursday night.
M/Sgt. Romulo Galvez, a member of Bacolod City police drug enforcement team, was declared dead on arrival at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center.
The Negros Island Region police said Galvez died from a gunshot wound in the thigh.
Galvez’s companions arrested the suspect, who yielded a .45-caliber pistol and dried marijuana leaves with an estimated street value of P48,000.
