MANILA, Philippines — The Malabon City government and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) inaugurated on Friday a modern public utility vehicle stop in Barangay Hulong Duhat to enhance commuter safety and accessibility.
The project, launched in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways, Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board and Move as One Coalition, features ramps for persons with disability, benches, route maps, closed-circuit television cameras, lighting systems and bike-friendly amenities such as repair stations and charging docks.
“This is a symbol of modern change in our city,” Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said, highlighting the project’s inclusive and sustainable design.
DOTr undersecretary Mark Steven Pastor said the stops would serve as a model for future transport infrastructure nationwide.
Two of the six new PUV stops in Metro Manila are in Malabon, with the other located in Barangay Longos.
