Drug suspect slain in Davao sting

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — An alleged major drug trafficker was killed in a sting in Davao City on Saturday.

Sherwin Martin allegedly drew his gun after sensing that he was dealing with police undercover agents in Barangay Communal, triggering a firefight that resulted in his death.

The Davao City police told journalists that Martin had been under surveillance for allegedly trafficking shabu and marijuana in Davao City and several areas in Davao del Sur and Davao del Norte.

Meanwhile, in Cotabato, two motorcycle-riding men shot dead a businesswoman in Kidapawan City.

Aramae Bayhon, construction materials supplier, had just stepped out of her vehicle when the assailants shot her along Alim street.

Col. Gilbert Tuzon, Cotabato police director, said probers have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
