BALANGA, Bataan, Philippines — The government has completed the construction of a solar-powered water project in Pilar town in this province.

The P9.5-million facility located in Barangay Panilao was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The project underscores the commitment of the DPWH to create an environmentally responsible future by ensuring water supply for the people of Bataan, according to Ulysses Llado, chief of the DPWH-Bataan second engineering district.

“Ensuring accessible and stable water supply for local government units through a solar-powered system underscores our proactive approach in delivering essential services to the people,” Llado said.

He said the use of solar power promotes renewable energy adoption, reduces cost and protects the environment.

The completion of the project serves as an inspiration to other local government units facing similar challenges, Llado said.
