MANILA, Philippines — At least 116 third-level officers of the Philippine National Police have been promoted, the PNP announced yesterday.

According to PNP public information office chief Col. Jean Fajardo, 116 appointment papers for third-level officers were released and handed over by Lourd Villanueva of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, accompanied by Commissioner Bernabe and Adrian Bersamin.

The appointment papers were received by PNP chief Brig. Gen. Benjamin Acorda.

“The expedited release of these appointment papers is attributed to the concerted efforts of the Office of the President, which worked overtime to ensure the timely processing of promotions for the PNP senior officers,” Fajardo said.

Fajardo clarified that while these appointments have been finalized, there are still pending promotions being processed by the National Police Commission and Civil Service Commission.

400 police recruits

Meanwhile, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) welcomed 400 new police recruits who took their oath at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City on Tuesday.

The new batch of recruits will undergo a 24-week training to provide them with the basic knowledge and skills in police science, administration and combat operations and tactics.

NCRPO director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. extended his congratulations to the new police recruits for passing the “painstaking recruitment process.”
