MANILA, Philippines — The rehabilitation of the Lagusnilad underpass in Manila is nearing completion and is awaiting finalization from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), city engineer Armando Andres told The STAR yesterday.

The city’s part of the work, which is applying concrete to the pavement, is almost 100 percent completed, according to Andres.

“We are just waiting for the portion that will be done by the DPWH, which is the chamber,” he said in Filipino.

Andres, however, did not disclose an expected date for the reopening of the underpass, saying they would give updates to Manila Mayor Honey Lacuña.

The underpass, which was built in the 1960s, was closed to traffic on May 2 to undergo rehabilitation, including upgrading, concreting and drainage improvement.
