MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos visited the wake of Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople at the at Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City on Wednesday night.

Former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, Sen. Cynthia Villar and former senator Manuel Villar Jr. also paid their last respects to Ople.

Instead of sending flowers, Ople’s family asked everyone to donate to the Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute.

Ople passed away Tuesday afternoon at the age of 61. She had battled breast cancer since 2020.

Last month, Ople took a two-week wellness break following the passing of her two elder brothers.
