MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Valenzuela has approved an ordinance banning the operations of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators or POGOs in the city.

City public information officer Mara Salazar said the ordinance has yet to be signed by Mayor Wes Gatchalian.

In a radio interview on Saturday, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian voiced concern about the potential increase in crimes if more POGO operations were allowed in the city.

The senator expressed support for the proposal of Clark Development Corp. chairperson Agnes Devanadera for a total ban on POGO operations in Clark, Pampanga.
