ACG raids lending firm

MANILA, Philippines — Police raided a lending company in Pasig City yesterday for reportedly harassing clients who are unable to pay their debts.

Armed with a warrant to search, seize and examine computer data, personnel from the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) raided the Realm Shifters Business Outsourcing Services office in Barangay San Miguel at around 10:30 a.m.

Capt. Michelle Sabino, ACG spokesperson, said the warrant was issued by Pasig Regional Trial Court Judge Elma Rafallo-Lingan.

The operation was based on information that company employees were harassing and threatening clients.

The ACG said the firm is also using the victims’ personal information.

Police were still conducting digital forensic examination on the company’s computers as of yesterday afternoon.

The ACG is looking at charging employees with misuse of devices under Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
