5 hurt in Quezon mall LPG blast

CANDELARIA, Quezon, Philippines — Five employees of a fastfood restaurant were injured when a liquefied petroleum gas tank exploded at a mall in this town on Friday.

The fastfood restaurant manager, Shayne Montales; assistant manager John Lee Buay, crewmembers Aubrey Retuerma and Jennelyn Aveline and cashier Micko Buedron suffered second degree burns. They were taken to the Peter Paul Medical Hospital and United Candelaria Doctors Hospital for treatment, S/Sgt. Manolito Vitorian said.

The explosion damaged the roof of the restaurant.

The incident occurred in Barangay Malabanban Norte at around 3:30 p.m., according to a police report. – Emmanuel Tupas, Ed Amoroso
