Go leads turnover of housing units to Bataan fire victims

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go joined a team from the National Housing Authority (NHA) during the turnover of housing units to fire victims at 1Bataan Village Phase 1 in Barangay Daang Pare in Orion, Bataan on Thursday.

Go provided assistance to the fire victims in 2019.

In his speech, the senator commended the local government of Orion, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development headed by Secretary Jerry Acuzar and NHA for allocating housing units to 216 residents who lost their homes.

To address the need for quality and affordable housing nationwide, Go renewed his call for the passage of Senate Bills 192 and 426, which he authored.

SB 192 or the proposed Rental Housing Subsidy program aims to provide adequate, sustainable and habitable shelter for Filipinos affected by disasters and other crisis situations.

SB 426 or the proposed National Housing Development, Production and Financing program seeks to increase housing production by forging partnerships among relevant stakeholders.

Go and his team distributed grocery packs, face masks, vitamins, meals and shirts to the beneficiaries. They also gave away cellular phones, bicycles, shoes and balls for volleyball and basketball to select individuals.
