P6.8 million shabu seized in Iloilo

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics officers confiscated a kilo of shabu worth P6.8 million in Carles, Iloilo on Wednesday.

Matthew James Bacos, 20, was arrested for possession of the illegal drugs at a resort in Barangay Barosbos at around 10:45 p.m., Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said.

Bacos, whom Azurin described as a ”high-value target,” sold the shabu to an undercover anti-narcotics agent in exchange for P600,000.

The suspect was handcuffed after he accepted the marked money.

Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco, Western Visayas police chief, said the arrest was also part of security measures for the Dinagyang Festival this weekend.

”One of our preparations is to conduct target hardening against criminal elements and continuous monitoring of high-value individuals,” Francisco said.
