Government warns public vs fake housing agents
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development has advised the public to seek details about the administration’s “Pambansang Pabahay” mass housing program only through proper government channels to avoid getting misled by unauthorized groups or persons posing as agents of the DHSUD.
“No private individuals or groups are authorized to act on behalf of the agency regarding the housing program,” DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said in a statement yesterday.
Acuzar said apart from the DHSUD, the public may seek details about the program only from local government units (LGUs) and the DHSUD’s shelter agencies such as the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund, Social Housing Finance Corp., National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. and National Housing Authority.
The DHSUD said several LGUs have rolled out their housing projects under the “Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino” program.
The program aims to construct one million homes beginning this year until 2028 to address the country’s housing need at more than 6.5 million units.
