PNP: 7 Davao towns cleared of drugs

MANILA, Philippines — Seven municipalities in Davao Region have been declared drug-free by the Philippine National Police.

PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. yesterday said the declaration came after the regional oversight committee on barangay drug clearing (ROCBDC) reported that the towns had been cleared of the illegal drug trade last week.

These towns include Talaingod and San Isidro in Davao Del Norte, Sta. Maria and Malita in Davao Occidental, Mawab in Davao de Oro, Boston in Davao Oriental and Malalag in Davao del Sur.

“Let us work hard to maintain our drug-cleared barangays and ensure that they do not return to any drug-related activities,” Azurin said in Filipino.

He said the success of the barangay drug-clearing program was made possible through the collective efforts and collaboration of all member-agencies of the ROCBDC as well as the participation of local government units in the region.
