Interpol meet: PNP to present accomplishments in drug war

MANILA, Philippines —  The Philippine National Police (PNP) will present its accomplishments in the war on drugs and other crimes during the 90th General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), a three-day event in India, which started on Wednesday.

The six-member delegation headed by PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin will present a country paper in one of the workshop committee meetings.

The presentation will highlight the recent developments in the PNP’s campaign against illegal drugs, cybercrimes, intellectual property rights violations, transnational crimes as well as online sexual abuse and exploitation of children or OSAEC.

Other members of the Philippine delegation are Undersecretary Alfred Corpus, executive director of the Philippine Center for Transnational Crime; Third Secretary and Vice Consul Mark Articulo of the Philippine embassy in India, PNP Directorate for Intelligence head Maj. Gen. Benjamin Acorda; Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management director Maj. Gen. Eliseo Cruz and acting director for plans Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac.

Indian Prime Ministerr Nwarendra Modi opened the general assembly in a ceremony in New Delhi on Wednesday. Present during the event were senior law enforcement officials from 160 Interpol member countries.

On the agenda of the assembly are the future of policing, policing initiatives on financial crimes, anti-corruption, cybercrimes, crimes against children and DNA database of missing persons.
