BI jail on lockdown

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The detention facility of the Bureau of Immigration at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig will be placed on lockdown after BI agents recently foiled an attempt by American and Korean detainees to smuggle illegal drugs in jail.

BI jail warden officer-in-charge Adelfo Marasigan said American Robert Wayne Boling, 41, and Korean Kwon Hyeok Soo, 41, are being investigated over the incident.

Marasigan said BI officers found at least seven grams of shabu stashed in a Korean stew that was delivered for Boling on Oct. 4.

Prior to this, another Korean detainee, Yang Heejun, was allegedly caught sneaking shabu wrapped in plastic and stuffed in a kimchi container on Sept. 21.

Both Boling and Kwon are being held at the BI jail on drug charges.
