MANILA, Philippines — A traffic enforcer died after he was hit by a van in Manila yesterday morning.
Rommel delos Santos, 40, an employee of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, was on a motorcycle along Osmeña Highway when he was struck by an Isuzu van driven by Jaret Andaya.
The van hit the rear portion of the victim’s motorcycle, according to the Manila Police District.
Delos Santos fell off the motorcycle due to the impact.
He was brought to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, a still unidentified scavenger was injured after he was sideswiped by a Philippine National Railways train in San Andres Bukid yesterday.
The train was approaching the San Andres station when it hit the scavenger who was carrying scraps, police said.
The victim, described to be between 50 and 60 years old, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
