Manila provides jobs to seniors, PWDs

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila city government has entered into memoranda of agreement with two companies to provide more jobs for the residents.

Mayor Honey Lacuna on Tuesday signed an agreement with Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures to provide employment to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Shakey’s vowed to hire a senior citizen and one person with disability per branch in Manila.

Lacuna said the program of providing jobs to the elderly and PWDs was initiated by former mayor Isko Moreno.

The city government also entered into a partnership with Sarisuki Stores Inc., which called itself an online food and grocery delivery services company, which aims to provide a healthier and hassle-free option for consumers and resellers.

Residents may apply as a reseller at the online market, Sarisuki chief executive officer Brian Cu said.

Lacuna thanked the companies for helping seniors and PWDs become “productive members of society.”
