P13.6 million shabu seized in Lanao del Sur, Albay

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents have seized shabu with an estimated street value of P13.6 million in Maguing, Lanao del Sur and Guinobatan, Albay.

Rogelio Daculla, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao director, said Amersab Macabato, his wife Raifa Rakim and Faiza Hadjiraof were arrested for possession of shabu valued at  P10.2 million during a raid on the house of one of the suspects in Barangay Dilimbayan in Maguing.

Hadjiraof’s wife managed to escape as members of the raiding team were approaching.

Daculla said the raid was based on a search warrant,  and conducted after PDEA received reports that the suspects were behind drug trafficking in Maguing and nearby areas.

In Guinobatan, 500.5 grams of shabu valued at P3.4 million were reportedly seized from Yuri Pavia, 39, and a 17-year-old boy.

Philippine National Police officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao said the suspects were apprehended in a sting in Barangay Inamnan at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Police said drug paraphernalia were also recovered from the suspects.

“The minor suspect will be subjected to assessment of his discernment. It is sad to note that younger members of the society are involved in this illegal business,” Danao said. - Emmanuel Tupas
