Rape-slay suspect slain in ‘shootout’

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A man tagged in the rape and murder of two women was killed after he allegedly resisted arrest in Antipolo, Rizal on Sunday.

Ramcy Nerves died while being rushed to the Cabading Hospital.

Police said Nerves reportedly broke into the house of the victims in Barangay San Jose and tried to rape them.

He allegedly slit the throats of the women when they tried to stop him from molesting them.

After the discovery of the bodies, village watchmen found blood trails leading to the house of the suspect, who was found to be bleeding from a wound inflicted by the women.

Arresting officers S/Sgt. Leodigario Quinto and Patrolmen Kenji Singian and Rowan Dioquino took Nerves in a patrol car to a police community precinct.

Probers said Nerves reportedly grabbed the service pistol of Quinto, who tried to wrestle the gun from the suspect.

The gun went off, prompting the officers to fire back, killing Nerves.
