P15 million marijuana destroyed in Kalinga

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents uprooted and burned marijuana plants with an estimated value of P15 million in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Friday.

Brig. Gen. Randy Peralta,  Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group director, said the marijuana plants were discovered in two plantations with a total land area of 7,500 square meters in Barangays Butbut Proper and Loccon.

No cultivator of the plantations was arrested.

In Cavite, Arafat Mangco, 45, was apprehended for possession of 200 grams of shabu worth P1.36 million in a sting in Dasmariñas.

Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, Central Luzon police director, said P500,000 worth of shabu was seized from Bernie de la Cruz, who was nabbed in a sting in Barangay San Francisco in Malabacat, Pampanga.

Baccay said De la Cruz is a ”high-value” drug target. – Ric Sapnu
