MANILA, Philippines — Six policemen were relieved from their posts after they allegedly robbed a vendor in Caloocan City, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said yesterday.
Corporals Noel Espedo, Mark Cabanilla, Jake Rosima, Ryan Gomez, Rommel Toribio and Daryl Sablay, all assigned with the drug enforcement unit of the Caloocan police, were disarmed pending result of the investigation.
They were accused of robbing vendor Eddie Yuson of P14,000 on March 27.
Based on video uploaded by Yuson’s daughter on social media, the victim was on his way to buy food for his family when the policemen stopped him and searched his bag supposedly for drugs.
Caloocan police chief Col. Samuel Mina said the suspects denied taking money from Yuson, who was reportedly drunk at the time.
NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad vowed to dismiss the policemen from the service if they are proven liable.
