Batangas now low risk for COVID-19

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines —  All provinces in Calabarzon are now low risk for COVID-19.

In its latest report, OCTA Research Group fellow Guido David said Batangas has been downgraded to low risk following improvements in its health care utilization and positivity rates.

Hospital bed occupancy in the province dropped to 31 percent yesterday from 36 percent on Wednesday.

The positivity rate or the number of people found infected out of the total tests conducted went down from 10 percent to eight percent.

Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon have remained under low risk.

David had earlier said that Quezon, which has a low four percent positivity rate, could be the first province in Calabarzon to be downgraded to “very low risk.”

In Cebu City, active cases are down to 1,528 in 72 barangays.

The city government’s emergency operations center reported yesterday that only 41 of the 523 tested were found infected.

He said the positivity rate is less than 10 percent in the past two days.
