Grab to test unvaxxed drivers weekly
MANILA, Philippines — Grab Philippines is set to mandate COVID-19 testing for its unvaccinated drivers and delivery-partners starting next week as part of its commitment to safety amid the rising cases in the country.
In a statement yesterday, Grab Philippines said it is expanding its GrabProtect program to include a weekly mandatory COVID testing for unvaccinated drivers and delivery-partners beginning Jan.17 in support of the recent government policies concerning unvaccinated individuals.
It said those with negative test results from Grab-accredited testing sites would receive bookings from the platform.
“Grab continues to raise the bar on safety and hygiene to minimize the risk of COVID transmission on the platform,” it said.
Drivers and delivery-partners of Grab Philippines who have been fully vaccinated for at least three months are also encouraged to get their booster shots from their respective local government units.
Grab Philippines also said it is increasing its COVID Assistance Fund by four times to cover the potential loss of income and medical expenses of fully vaccinated drivers and delivery-partners who contracted COVID-19 and need to undergo quarantine, as well as those who may experience side effects from their booster shots.
It is also extending its GrabCar Bayanihan initiative by providing passengers with safe, reliable and affordable rides going to and from vaccination sites.
