MANILA, Philippines — After posting an average of less than 100 new COVID-19 cases per day in the past week, the National Capital Region (NCR) is now at very low risk classification.
In a report released yesterday, the OCTA Research Group said Metro Manila logged an average of 91 new cases of COVID-19 daily from Dec. 6 to 12.
According to OCTA fellow Guido David, it was the first time Metro Manila recorded less than 100 cases of COVID-19 per day since March last year.
OCTA said Caloocan, Las Piñas, Mandaluyong, Manila, Marikina, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasig, Pateros, Pasay, San Juan, Taguig and Valenzuela are now at very low risk category for COVID-19.
Pateros posted zero COVID cases per day during the past week, according to the independent research group.
The rest of the cities in Metro Manila – Makati, Malabon, Muntinlupa and Quezon City – were classified as low risk primarily because of hospitalization rates.
For the NCR as a whole, OCTA said the incidence of average daily attack rate dropped to 0.64 per 100,000 population while the reproduction number was very low at 0.39.
The testing positivity rate in Metro Manila also decreased to only 0.9 percent in the past seven days, thereby classifying the NCR and 13 local government units as very low risk for COVID-19.
