MANILA, Philippines — The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) has recognized the Quezon City government for its initiatives to promote ease of doing business in the city.

During the Ease of Doing Business Summit organized by ARTA on Thursday, Quezon City received the “Doing Business Competitiveness Mover” recognition for providing efficient and fast services to business establishments in the city.

The city’s Department of Building Official was also given a special citation as the “3rd Big Impact Indicator” for its efforts to automate and streamline processes for application of construction and other related building permits.

“We are very thankful to ARTA, led by director general Jeremiah Belgica. These are attestations that the city’s initiatives have been effective in streamlining government services and making them more accessible, convenient and efficient,” said Mayor Joy Belmonte.

The Quezon City government earlier rolled out programs to promote ease in doing business, including automated e-services that shortened waiting time, eliminated the hassle of physically going to the city hall and reduced the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

The city’s Business Permits and Licensing Department also started issuing electronic business permits and provided free delivery services of physical permits to business establishments in the city.

Aside from business permits, Quezon City taxpayers can also pay their real property dues online.

Recently, the city government put up E-Services kiosks in district action offices and business centers in malls and barangays to allow residents and business owners to access various online services.

These include registration for the QCitizen ID and QC Vax Easy, payment of real property taxes and applications for senior citizen and persons with disability IDs, livelihood assistance, occupational permit and health and sanitary permit.
